Miscellaneous Writings
Last updated 1/20/98
There are currently only two items here, written quite a while ago. For more
writings see my blog.
- Kyudo no yume: I wrote this very
short story in 1982, when I was studying martial arts. It was based on
a dream my teacher, Garrick Hu, told us he had had. The images of Kyudo,
the twin brother (that neither he nor I had), and the constant internal
battle between form and formlessness in the study of anything zen-ish
came together for this impression.
- Hiroshima: This first appeared in the August
6, 1984 issue of the Ann Arbor News. It was written two years
after I visited Hiroshima while I was living in Kyoto, Japan. Remember
that this was written by a 26 year-old. At least follow some of the links.
- Tilly, o Tilly: an ode to a wonderful Border
Collie.
- Scotland Travel Log: compiled
from notes taken during a great trip to Scotland.
- Vocabula Review article, written
at the invitation of the publisher who knew very well that I disagreed
vehemently with his publication's assumption of descriptive grammar.
